I am a 22 year old entrepreneur from the inner city of Kingston, NY. I studied Pre-Law at the University at Albany and graduated with my B.A in Political Science and Minor in Philosophy. As a first generation graduate from both high school and college, I faced many challenges throughout my academic years. It inspired me to cultivate a platform that provides students with the same tools and resources I found fundamental to my personal and academic success.
Our Organization’s culture, what it means to be “InTouch” is something that resinates deeply within me. Being a student at a predominantly white school, I struggled with identity. I also lived with the burden of being the only male in the house since I was able to crawl. This left me with a lack of self knowledge. I was blinded by my insecurities and lack of resources.
Fast forward to today, I am proud to hold the position as Chairman, CEO and Founder of an Organization that empowers students. Career InTouch is how I turned my insecurities into strengths. Where being InTouch is more than a mission, it’s a culture! A community where our youth is INFORMED. MOTIVATED. INSPIRED. is a community Gearing Towards a Brighter Future.
Since I’ve started this journey, I can confidently say that two things have contributed immensely to my growth and development, reading and my mother. Adherence to strict home politics and a reverence for literature with a dash of curiosity put me in positions that have allowed me to grow skills that’ve helped me to the place that I am today. Skills that propelled me from chatter box to C-Suite and leading the next generation of leaders…by example.
Born and raised in Albany, New York, starting on the outskirts of Downtown South Pearl Street to be exact. Where I had friends who challenged my reading, and went to the same school as I. Where homerooms were named after colleges and many of the administrators were Black.
Accessing opportunities through after school programs was the filter for leisure time when I wasn’t occasionally talking too much or goofing off. But believe it or not it was that same inquisitive attitude and talkative mindset that excelled me through those programs, affording me to see so much outside of my home. Now, I’m in the business of arming students with core qualities to inspire, motivate, and inform others, gearing towards a brighter future.
As President, Founder, and COO of Career InTouch, I help lead a dynamic team in our mission to empower the future workforce through innovative soft skill development programming.
Drawing upon my previous roles as a youth program facilitator, community liaison, and notably with the Office of the Mayor in Albany, where I gained invaluable insights into local government and public service.
I’ve also had the privilege of honing my skills in financial stewardship and daily operations management as a Business Development & Operations Associate at Good Steward LLC, guided by Author/Advisor Shawn Rochester. These experiences have broadened my understanding of business dynamics and intrapersonal skills, providing me with a unique perspective, I hope to share with the world.
I am a proud mother of a blended family of five children, three pets, and a patient and supportive husband. I have embraced various roles throughout my life, including that of a high school teacher, business owner, and now a business counselor for the Small Business Development Center.
Being an educator has allowed me to inspire and guide students toward academic and personal success. Creating spaces for students to thrive as people was a big part of what I loved about teaching.
One of the goals of my business was to assist people in realizing their dream of becoming
entrepreneurs. That assistance ranged from simply helping a person create their corporation or
continuing to assist them with gaining specialized designations as a woman- or minority-owned
business. These processes are overwhelming, and I took great pride in making the process of
becoming an entrepreneur is understandable and painless.
My passion for uplifting and giving back to my community extends beyond the classroom and my business. I have had the privilege of serving as a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) business counselor, where I can support entrepreneurs on a larger scale. It brings me immense joy to offer guidance and support to individuals as they navigate the complexities of starting and growing their businesses.
Social justice is a cause that lies close to my heart. I firmly believe in equality and fairness for all individuals, regardless of background or circumstances. To contribute to this cause, I actively participate in community initiatives and organizations striving to create a more just and inclusive society where we all thrive. It is why I am so excited to be part of Career InTouch.
When I’m not running after kids or helping business owners, you can often find me engrossed in a book. I am an avid reader who believes in the power of literature to educate, inspire, and foster empathy. My love for learning is insatiable, so I am pursuing a second degree in black studies. To know where you are going, you have to see where you’ve been, and I believe this degree is only the beginning of a fantastic journey.

The desire to strive for more and break stereotypical beliefs of who I was, or who I was meant to be, has been a driving force from a young age. Everything from adjusting to the ever-changing conditions of living on the 17th floor of a NYCHA building to becoming a teen mom at fifteen did not deter the path meant for me. It actually gave me more fire to succeed. Going on to graduate from High School with a 3-year-old as Valedictorian was only the beginning. I went on to attend college where I had the privilege of earning a spot on the Dean’s List and later graduating early with Cum Laude Honors.
My first job at sixteen was as a Teen Maternity Shelter Advisor. The objective of this position was to share my experience as a teen mother with homeless youth in teen shelters or schools with a population of high-risk students. This passion of sharing my story later equipped me with the patience and understanding needed to do what I do today.
Today, I am the owner and operator of Absolutely Clear Title Agency, an education-based Title Insurance Agency servicing New York State residential and commercial purchases. Opening the business during the summer of 2020 was a challenge I was willing to take in order to amplify change in an industry where the service is not understood or properly explained. I went from a high-performance employee to a focused business owner who thoroughly enjoys empowering professions and enlightening the consumer. Through my experiences and continued growth both personally and professionally I look forward to guiding and
supporting as well and being an example to a community of future leaders especially those who are “expected” not to succeed.
Brother Barry Walston as I am affectionately referred to by my village. I am a lifelong activist, community servant, and mentor to youth in the Albany community. I have been told that I am a maverick of Superheroes in this world is social services and raising the awareness of literacy for all children in our communities . The emeritus of the Albany Black Child Development Institute who worked on responding to the unique strengths, unleashing the genius and needs of Black children. The majority of my professional career has been dedicated to working in human services and supporting programs that service populations at risk. Recently, I retired from the New York State Department of Health of thirty years as a public health practitioner. During my tenure I worked in the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute in the Bureau Division of HIV, where I piloted a number of initiatives within the Division of HIV Prevention. I continue to serve on a number of Boards: President of Literacy NY of the Greater Capital Region, and past Grants Chair of the Albany Fund Education. What a fun and thoughtful person who illuminates as a Board Member on the Juvenile Community Accountability Board and a member of the Albany Chapter of the NAACP and serves as their Youth Advisor to the NAACP Youth Council. He is the monopoly of community services on boards.
Previously, I served as the Board President of TASC – Treatment Alternatives to
Street Crimes and the Interim Director of the Whitney M. Young Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program based in Albany, NY. I am a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. where I serve as the recording secretary. My mantra and principle is UBUNTU- “I am because you are and you are because I am.”
I was a smart and sassy teenager who knew too much and had a truckload of righteous indignation. As the middle child of a single mom of three, I was raised knowing that we didn’t have much but we always had enough. In my strong mind, everything was up for debate (and I sure debated!) but my siblings and I were told from a young age that college was a non-negotiable. I always knew that my future would involve advocacy but had thought I was headed for a career in law. What I found was that I couldn’t commit myself to a system I saw as inherently bias and consequently had such little faith in. Social work ultimately provided the opportunity to pursue my passion for positive personal and political change. I worked in substance abuse, eldercare, with teen parents, as a grant writer, community educator and organizer and ultimately found my meant to be destiny as a high school social worker. Working in the education system I am constantly looking for best practices and creative approaches to make school feel safe, supportive and meaningful for students while being mindful of equity, cultural relevance and how oppressive and exclusive a traditional school setting/structure can feel. Career InTouch fills a void and addresses the needs of students in a way that is exciting, empowering and effective. They represent the future and I feel fortunate to be a part of it!!
